The Storm Warrior saga continues as Charles stumbles upon an old man being beaten to death and intervenes, which results in a turf war with a powerful crime boss in Philadelphia. Judith’s bank is attacked to pay Charles back for testifying against the crime boss’s ruffians, and assassins are hired to eliminate any and all witnesses. Judith and her secretary are hospitalized, and a bank customer is shot dead in the bank during the disturbance. Charles takes it upon himself to fight the crime boss and protect the one and only witness who could bring him down. Charles takes his horses to Saratoga for the final big race of the year while keeping an eye on the witness that he had sworn to protect. Charles worries about where to put the witness when the trial is over, to hide him in plain sight while protecting him. An assassin travels to Denver, confronts Charles about the man he is protecting, then travels to Atlanta to seek revenge against Charles by hurting or killing his family. Charles’ Indian friends are encountered, and one is seriously wounded, and Charles escorts the Indians to Denver in an effort to save the injured man’s life by placing him in the hospital. After dealing with the Indians, Charles travels to Atlanta to avert trouble between the assassin and his daughter and son-in- law. Charles convinces his wife, Judith, and the two children to accompany him to England for a business holiday, discovers the need for a salesman and sets out to find one with only a few days before returning to America.
