Hunt and his men are busy tracking criminals, murderers, bushwhackers, rapists, and livestock thieves. Hunt is pleased to see his old friend Charles Crawford arrive for a visit and agrees to help Charles stop a wagon train as they search for a murderer. Hunt is surprised when Charles asks Hunt to give Gray Wolf an opportunity to become a U.S. Deputy Marshal. Hunt agrees to send Gray Wolf with his men on a trial mission. Charles’s visit is cut short when he is bushwhacked by two criminals on the run who need his horse after one of theirs goes lame. Search expeditions are underway to find Charles when his horse comes back without him, and to find the bushwhackers who shot and robbed Charles. Hunt’s men are sent in many directions to solve crimes and track down the perpetrators.
